SOPHIE
Sophie works for a market research firm in New York City, in the fall of 2007 after having spent a year in Paris working in the art world. A 2006 graduate from the University of Colorado with an avid interest in the interactive world, digital communication and new media; Sophie specializes in the Nicholas Research interactive businesses, BlogRhythm® and Virtual Worlds Insights. In addition to media, Sophie is interested in film, the arts and different cultures.
JESS PAPS
Jess is a twenty three year old woman living in Brooklyn, NY. She is currently employed by New York City’s lead homeless outreach housing agency where she works toward housing NYC’s mentally ill and chemically abusing homeless adults. She enjoys kittens, feminism, and playing music. She majored in filmmaking at Sarah Lawrence College.
.jade is a recent graduate of sarah lawrence college. her work can be found in michelle sewell’s ‘growing up girl’ and her upcoming chapbook, ‘thelyrical.’ she currently works with youth living with aids in the home and in the body/ pediatricaidshivcare. and is basically trying to write/ say everything god tells her to.
MIKE G
Mike graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Radio/Television/Film in 2003, where he studied predominantly documentary filmmaking. His films have been shown at various film festivals in Texas, most notably, SXSW Film Festival, Austin Film Festival and the Dallas Film & Video Festival. Though not currently making films, Mike enjoys a relatively fulfilling day job at Apple Computer and runs a small business from home. He travels frequently to maintain his sanity.
MAX:
Max lives on the Lower East Side of New York City. An aspiring screenwriter, Max’s work deals with the fine line between dreams and nightmares, reality and imagination, magic and mundane. He loves all things scary especially his long-haired Chihuahua Oliver aka Dr. Zombie.
MELANIE:
Melanie, a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, fuses Gay Pride with Texan Pride to critically analyze film. While she’s an L Word Junkie, Mel loves indie film and South American literature. Her day job is working for Apple.
CHRISTOPER:
Born and raised in American South, Christopher is a good ol’ boy who loves the color pink, most everything queer, and all things 80’s. As an undergrad at Sarah Lawrence College he concentrated in the Humanities and was involved with the literary review as well as the queer student group. Post-collegiate life currently finds him toiling away as an assistant by day, and playing couch commando at night.
CHRISTIAN:
Christian is a BFA graduate of New York University’s Film and Television production program. A writer, director and fledgling producer, he was the director behind the 2005 anniversary Off-Broadway run of James Dean’s “Rebel Without A Cause” and the well-received anti-war play at the Brooklyn impact theatre, Kettle Dreams. He brings to NBPC, his experience with the BBC, local New York based production companies, including Boondoggle Films, and a desire to infuse into the evolving content universe, works by young producers of the African Diaspora.
TATE:
A recent graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, Tate writes, directs, and produces Queer media and new media for her company, FAT FILMZ. Currently, she is working at the National Black Programming Consortium, a non-profit that funds Black documentaries for PBS.
HELEN:
Helen is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College where she studied fiction writing. Born in Philadelphia, Helen can’t help but compare New York to her home town, though she knows it is a losing battle. Currently, Helen is a New York City Public School teacher in the Bronx, which gives her plenty of material. She teaches seventh grade Communication Arts, and when she is not grading papers and lesson planning, she tries to write. Her favorite superhero is Spiderman, hands down.
MICHAEL:
Mike graduated with a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College. At Sarah Lawrence, he concentrated in writing, visual art and anthropology. At commencement he was awarded the Stanley and Evelyn Lipkin Prize for Poetry by the writing faculty of Sarah Lawrence. Mike has had his poetry published in various student publications, including: The Little Jackie Paper and Plaid. He was also an intern for the fashion department of Harper’s Bazaar magazine. His areas on interest include: poetry, visual art, fiction, playwriting, fusion cuisine, music, themes of exile and return, and genre-bending stories about glam super-villains, sex, futuristic fashion, murder and drugs. Any resemblance to actual individuals is coincidental.
ISABELLE:
GIGI:
Gigi Swift is a recent graduate of Sarah Lawrence College where she concentrated in the Humanities and Writing. Born and socialized in Washington, DC, Gigi now resides in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Gigi has always been interested in storytelling to effect culture and is especially thrilled to have this opportunity to use the Internet as a medium to explore and discuss the narratives of Queer society. Gigi’s other interests currently include fiction, exploring, modern art, tivo, live music, screenwriting, and her friends.
